Ghost box

Posted by Ectoron at 03:46 PM on January 06, 2010 Comments comments (0)

Hi everyone, Here's another gadget to add to your arsenal. The ghost box. This is another way to communacate with the non-living. It's just like doing EVP'S. But what you are doing is using the digital radio in scan mode. But you have to modify the radio first. This radio can be purchased at radio shack. Model # 12-587 Digital pocket radio $29.99. To do the modifcations go to www.ufogeek.com. We bought two of these and will use them on our next investigation and let you know the results. One of these was used in The show The hunted on .www.animal.discovery.com Episode, Ghost Box Picks Up Voice. Check it out.

Does Hollywood help or harm the paranormal field?

Posted by alissa9948 at 03:03 AM on November 05, 2009 Comments comments (1)

Paranormal occurences in movies have been around for as long as there's been a horror genre. More recently though Hollywood has taken a turn to making more traditional paranormal movies. White Noise, Paranormal Activity and A Haunting in Connecticut are just a few of the blockbusters that have really sparked an interest in the paranormal field. My question is do these movies help or harm the world of paranormal investigators? On the one hand they do bring the world of "ghost hunting" to the masses. This could be a good thing by maybe getting more people interested in what it is we do. But are these movie a good representation of the actuality of investigating? Personally, I think these movies do both good and bad for us. It's always great to have more people want to learn about what we're doing but these movies are also obviously falsifying and exaggerating the paranormal world for the entertainment value. What does everyone else think about this subject?

Investigations

Finding places to go is getting tougher as more groups are forming everday.  I used to say there are enough ghosts to go around, now I'm not so sure.  Places are less inclined to let more than one group in and so it becomes more of a problem to find places to investigate.  We are always on the lookout for new places so if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to contact us.  We also do private homes and never charge for an investigation.  When we're done we place a copy of all evidence gathered on a cd and present it to the owner for their records.  We also do clearings if that is desired.  We can provide references.

One problem with k-II meter

Posted by Ectoron at 07:59 PM on October 20, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Hi everyone, We've been using the k-II meter for a couple of months now. But came across one problem with it. This is for everyone who use's two way radios. I know two way radios are important tool for safety. But  when you use the k-II meter turn off the radio. Then when you are done turn the two way back on. I know what you are thinking. That's a lot to think about. But i have seen a lot of youtube videos of investigations and clearly see the k-II meter going on. But i can also here the two way radios at the same time. So that is contaminated evidence. So far we have had some good results with the k-II meter. Right now that is the only drawback when using the k-II meter. Check out our two videos with the k-II meter on our website.

The problem with being a ghost hunter....

As if we don't already have enough problems to begin with being paranormal enthusiats. We face ridicule from people everyday for doing what we do and even for what we believe in. The problem I've been seeing lately and what I want to talk about is ghost hunters attacking fellow believers of the paranormal world. Isn't it bad enough that most people think we're crazy for chasing spirits? Now, groups are attacking each other when we should be helping each other out. Maybe we've all become too focused on becoming famous or picking up a tv deal that we've lost sight of what we're trying to do in this field. It's true that maybe some groups out there are less credible than others but let people figure that out on their own. The Paranormal world has no place for trash talk about what group is fake and who doesn't deserve to get credit. We should all be working towards showing people and skeptics that what we're doing is real and already hard enough to prove. It reflects bad on everyone when people who are supposedly investigators are calling out other groups and saying they fabricate evidence or things along those lines. It gives skeptics the idea that "well if they can't even believe each other then why should we?" All I'm saying is that we already face enough hurdles trying to prove what we believe.Maybe if more of us could work together we could get that much closer to showing people that ghosts do exist.

Ghost hunter movie

Hi, Came across this movie when i signed up for netflix. This movie is called "death of a ghost hunter". Made in 2007. The movie is about a paranormal investigator Carter Simms who is paid to conduct a paranormal investigation of a supposedly haunted house. Along with a cameraman, a reporter, and a spiritual advocate, she embarks on a three night journey into terror. I know what your thinking was this based on a true story. As far as i can tell it's not a true story but this is a good film for teaching about paranormal research and how to use the equipment. If you come across it check it out.

Just thinking....

I don't know how many times I've run into this situation but it has happened again.  You know the situation I'm talking about...the one where just because someone is on a show or has been somewhere in particular it makes them more valid than you.  It doesn't, believe me.  I personally have known some of these "media personalities" and they aren't always what they seem to be.  We pride ourselves on our skill and professionalism.  We could throw around the names of those "famous ones" we know too, but choose to let our reputation and references speak for themselves.  I guess I'm just tired of all the great groups out there not getting their chance to do some great investigations because they aren't "somebody".  So here's a cheer to all you groups out there who don't get the recognition you deserve.

K2 Meter For Ghost Hunting

Posted by Ectoron at 02:59 PM on April 04, 2009 Comments comments (7)

Does this meter really work you be the judge.

The K2 meter measures magnetic fields, and it's been specially calibrated for paranormal investigations. The theory behind the K2 meter is that if theres a spirit in the area, the K2 meter will pick up it's magnetic field. You can then train the spirits, supposedly, to intensify its magnetic field, therefore lighting up the lights on the K2 meter. The K2 meter has been tested and proven. But no skeptic has come straight out and said that the K2 meter does not work. There is serious science behind the K2 meter. The difference between a K2 meter and a standard EMF detector is that the EMF detector uses a needle to indicate the presence of energy (when the needle jumps up between 2.0 and 7.0, it is indicative of a nearby energy source) whereas the K2 meter uses a series of LED lights (green-yellow-orange-red.) Unless you choose to lower the volume, a regular EMF detector will beep when turned on or when it detects a change in frequency. The K2 meter is soundless, making it great for ghost hunting investigations where unnecessary noise is a distraction, and silence is a top priority. If anyone has used this meter let us know if this meter really works . we are thinking of trying one. If we can find one. They are a bit pricey at the moment.

The year of blogs

Posted by alissa9948 at 02:54 PM on January 02, 2009 Comments comments (2)

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday season because it's time to get back to business. I thought it would be cool to do something a little different and more personal with the site, if we all took turns writing blogs of our experiences and things like that people might enjoy it a little more than just the investigation write ups. So I've added this new blog section where the team members of ECTO can write about odds and ends for you guys to read and comment on. If you really like what we have to say there's an RSS feed button at the bottom and you can click it and add it to your Internet toolbar and it will update you when we've written new blogs. I'm just here to kick this thing off! So, as you can see on the right hand side of the screen there's a list of catagories, when an ECTO member writes a blog they will decide what catagory it will fit into and we'll be creating more as we go along but that's where you'll be able to find all of them and a list of recent ones as well.

ECTO is planning a lot for this new year. We're hoping to get that elusive web show off the ground still and we are itching to get back to investigating. Sure, we love teaching and lecturing too but ghost hunts are what we live for.  Anyway, keep checking this section and click the RSS feed to be the first to know when we've created any new blogs. Happy Hunting!
